“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”    Thomas A. Edison

When we closed A Mountain Fix gift shop after losing our lease at the end of February, we had no place for anything to go other than a local storage space.  Our plan had been to stay open through November and then close the business after one more summer season to allow us to focus on continuing care for Lois’ mom and to restart her wholesale sterling jewelry business.  But of course, life happens and plans are not always within our control – other priorities were more important than the livelihood of a small business.

Having top sell off inventory at a discount along with expenses of closing and moving resulted in a significant financial loss. We continued to look for possible locations in the lake area, knowing it would be impossible to sell off our summer inventory online.  On a whim we stopped in at Fox’s Pizza and after some discussions we secured the space next door through the end of October (when we originally planned to close)!

It won’t have the same view or quite the same feel as our original location, but we are transforming it and promise to provide the same fine sterling jewelry, lake décor, local artists and unique gifts for our customers.  The new location is right next to Casselman’s Bakery and Café and near Arrowhead, UNO’s and the Honi Honi Bar. Our customers are already very happy after we announced that we are reopening and we’re looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the new space.

We are planning to have the store open Thursday through Sundays and holidays, leaving us some time to enjoy more of this summer in Garrett County. You can look forward to more pictures as we get out and get our OWN Mountain Fix!
