A Mountain Fix Boutique

While we planned to close the Gallery at Marsh Hill in the Fall, we thought we had reached an agreement for a year extension for A Mountain Fix and our Studio (craft classes) after meeting with our landlord over the summer. Instead, he told us in September, 2023 that none of our leases would be renewed and our last month for A Mountain Fix would be February, 2024.

Unfortunately, based on that summer conversation we had already stocked up for the summer 2024 season, and though our customers would love for us to move to a new location we cannot take on a new 3-year commercial lease since we care for Lois’ elderly mom. Selling off inventory at a discount and having remaining product is resulting in a significant financial loss.

A Mountain Fix was voted Garrett County’s Greatest gift shop in 2022-2023 after just two years in business. When our wholesale jewelry business had an uncertain future after COVID, we sought out a retail location after moving to Garrett County in October, 2020 to care of Mom. We have been proud to feature many local products which will no longer have that outlet in the heart of McHenry and have partnered with many great local businesses including Pine Lodge Steakhouse, Pawn Run Bar & Kitchen, Deep Creek Fun Zone and especially our neighbors at Short Story Brewing. We’ve enjoyed meeting thousands of shoppers over more than three years and providing a different option for unique gifts in Deep Creek Lake.

We want to take a moment to thank our loyal customers and several local businesses that really stepped up to take some of our fixtures, furnishings and product. You were truly an unexpected blessing and we will be pointing our customers to you in the near future so they can continue to find some of their favorites from A Mountain Fix.

While some items will be available on our website store and through photo albums on Facebook, our store in McHenry is permanently closed. We appreciate our customers continuing to shop our closeout selection. While we are looking at some larger local craft events and a possible summer popup to sell off remaining products, A Mountain Fix as a gift shop will not continue on. We will be focusing more time on our long time sterling silver wholesale business and have a chance to enjoy more time on the water and catching up with new boat friends!
